I have to admit, I do look up my name on the internet. However, I mainly do it when I'm really bored. Does that make it a little less egotistical? hahahaha.

Thought it about time I did a bit of ego surfing again, just to see if anything has changed...sadly in my case, no!
I only serached moom and moo but moom is still all about hair removal and moo is mainly moo cards and computer stuff - though there was one particularly vulgar moo reference on the first google page - won't post a link but it was about guessing whether pictures were 'man milk' or 'moo milk' - don't go there...

While we were discussing a rather peculiar topic over at my very own fanclub (don't laugh) , moo pointed out that my club is the second entry when googling the query "urban dictionary pancakers"! Oh the exposures the club's gonna get! ;)

Anyway, do join my little fanclub if you're my friend (it's some sort of a misnomer)! http://virb.com/groups/90294930

haha! Always gets me over when I see my name mentioned! Conceited little cow, aren't I??
I was toying with the idea of changing my name the other day (mainly because I was trying to come up with an email name for my newly opened gmail account (which I LOVE by the way - you can have the address if you ask nicely) and though I didn't think of it at the time (ended up with a variation on moo), I think if I was to go over it again I'd be moodycow - as in moo, de cow! good eh? May actually open another, just to get that...

Think I may adopt your policy of a temp name change while I'm away, like you did when you were *away* *studying*... like an out of office reply - (which incidently is another use of OOF)

Jonathan says:

Oh yes, moodycow sounds great! Clever :)

temp name change, huh? make it humorous! no pressure.

There's this guy on MySpace who shares my name "origino", and when I first found out about this, I wanted to give him a big hug and kill him at the same time... while seeing somebody using my username is incredibly irritating (to me), it's also kinda cool so see the word "Origino" printed on CDs and stuff. So go check out his page! Right now, it still stays at the first page of the Google results for "origino", but just barely. Muhahahah!

yeah, there are a lot more "zhak"s out there, as i've found out.... apparently it's a popular turkish name or something. mine is just a shortened version of Zhakrin, a screen name i've had since 1996. people just started calling me 'zhak' for short, and it stuck. i like it much better than Zhakrin!

I've cracked it! I had a problem with the virb search option and wondered why only 2 (or some days 3!) of my created groups showed up when you typed 'moo' in (in 'search' rather than 'browse' - though that was equally bad...)
Well, I checked on the ones that showed up - and it seems that the tags are pretty useless; what matters is whether you have the word you are searching in the main text (the group description). So...you know what I've done, don't you? Yep, I've edited them all so that the word moo is in the text body, and now when I do a search they're all there - an embarrassment due to the quantity but easy to find now - if you know that the key word is 'moo'.

Now, my job is done and I'll be off to bed to formulate the next creation (only joking...I'll leave it at least a week!)

Edit: one other quirk though - it says 17 groups found but only shows 13...wonder where or what the missing 4 are?

This was said about one of my alter-egos...

"Known for Her Caring Side
That upbeat, growth-oriented attitude is typical of this dynamic individual. Wherever Angela has lived, she's been committed to giving back to the community as a volunteer. Those who know her well will vouch that, besides her generosity of spirit, Angela is a deeply caring person. This quality has many expressions, of course, but it's most apparent in her dealings with other families. She's a devoted mother of two and she knows all about the ups and downs parents and children go through when they leave their neighborhood, community, or one state for another. She's here to help make the transition a positive experience. Angela has been there; she's done that!"

I sell houses in my 'other' life. This is just one of many...let me find a few more...

sheesh... now I'm getting paranoid again - thought I'd come back here and remove the references to my name and find that although I can alter my replies (and I have), I don't have an option to alter the original post as it has replies!
Looks like I'm stuck with this being on here now!
Oh well...

Yeh, you are right of course, and the dangers for someone your age are WAY WAY more than for someone of mine! At least you are sensible about what you do and whether or not to meet. I'm unlikely to EVER meet anyone on here, most of all because most of them live outside of the UK and anyway, it's better to keep up the on-line relationships - meeting in real life would probably be a huge disappointment and we'd have nothing to say!
Do your parents say anything to put you off using the internet (do they know?) and do they worry that you are talking to some potentially very strange people?

I think my Dad doesn't get why one would wanna share his/ her own work on the Internet, so I doubt he'd get the whole social networking idea...

moo says:

well I would say it's a generation / age thing but I'm not in a position to say that, am I?
So, maybe it's just something you either do or you don't - though I would say that this is a young persons realm in the main - mind you, I'm just out of my teens in my mind so maybe it's whether or not you ever grew up in your head that makes the difference...

I swear - I'm too shy and don't much like socialising!
The internet is a different world - I might lie slightly when I say 'no' friends but certainly not many that I could call on at a moments notice without having to explain or justify the interruption.

moo says:

Well, if you don't tell them at least make sure SOMEONE knows where you're going and when you are expecting to get back - and make sure you tell them when they should start to worry.
I obviously didn't know everything my kids were up to when they were growing up and I'm glad that I didn't or I'd not have slept at nights, but they, like you, were sensible and they came through it ok.
Just make sure you keep it to public places and preferrably not just you and one other person - really, there are some weird perverts out there and you only need to be unlucky once.
