Hey guys/gals im working on a new blog as of now and am going to integrate my portfolio and some querky things into it. I was wondering what you people look for in a blog, is it design, content or both? also could you offer some pointers to starting a blog? muchos appreciated, cheers!

I am currently subscribed to 41 RSS feeds. Roughly 80% are blogs. Most days I read the posts in my feed reader and never actually see the site or the page that encapsulates the blog.
I believe that most people will suffer through poor design for good content, but not the other way round.

Flash Review: Ethur.org
Very simple. Kinda light on content. But I do like it.

its nice, except it doesn't fit on my screen very well (my 1024x768 monitor), its fine on my 1280x1024 one but really there should be a little more inclusiveness.. i also find that the text is a little hard to see on some pages, and lacks structure (like a big vibrant heading or a synopsis. apart from these small things its a great website, the transitions are nice and i love the idea of having the sit mirrored down the bottom and you can see your mouse move around, that's cool!

I'm diggin the flash component on this site. Specifically the Artist Showcase list, location of up/down buttons, and how the main detail area scrolls rollodex-style when you select different artists in the list.

Peculiar. It works for me (Firefox on XP). It is a social networking site by Micro$oft targeted at users of M$ Office for Mac.

I know you've linked Web Designs From Scratch before, but I found this recently and thought I would share. You cannot exactly review the CSS but I love the before/after format. The annotations are great, too!

I just now got around to reading that detailed article about the re-design. Very, very nice. I love how he gives the blow-by-blow behind reacting to the clients desires through each composite.

Thought i might take the initiative to make a post..

The new apple site, many may know about it, many not.. Great new design they have gone from using table layouts to using div layouts using CSS more actively as well.
The site looks more "mac" then ever and I love it. The colours suit their products, and the product slider is an awesome use of javascript!
Overall I think their new site is much easier to navigate through and not to mention is pleasing on the eye, so good work people who worked on it.

i too like grid designs, as far as design they are simplistic nothing fancy. I think this puts emphasis on the content of the website and also makes the content more presentable, this is probably the case for 5thirtyone.com.
