That's got to be the coolest periodic table that I've ever seen...

yes, I am a chemist :D
and I know the pic is big, but it loses too much detail if it's shrunk

I know you're a chemist tophe! (I actually expected a reply from you to the neon posting too!)
Love the table - I remember having to learn that with my girls when they were studying chemistry - i have to say it would have been a lot more interesting with that pic, than a list of symbols and letters - talk about inert - that was how I ALWAYS felt...

You may find this hard to believe, but I remember a prank we (as in my entire class - of which I was a part) played on Mrs. Lilly (my 8th grade earth science teacher) when we told her that we had all seen on SNC (Satellite News Channel - remember that one?) where an element with the atomic weight of 106 had been found in Panama in its natural form by Dr. David Lee Roth and that he had named it "Van Halenum" (Vh). She actually got out a permanent marker and wrote it on her pull-down periodic chart. Oh - good old memories from Jr. High. LOL

When we were in chemistry (or maybe physics) we made thermometers and used to play with the mercury! We all did - pushing the blobs around on the desks etc - nowadays the kids probably aren't even allowed to touch the stuff - none of us died as far as I'm aware. Not from mercury poisoning, anyhow...

sorry, moo, I forget who knows I'm a chemist and who doesn't... altho the domokun with lab glasses should be a helpful hint, lol. I remember playing with mercury in school too - we froze some with dry ice and watched it remelt :D (oh, and I found another fun (and BIG) periodic table here.)
traveler - Van Halenum? LOL. Funny by itself and even funnier that your teacher bought it.

I'm beginning to like chemisty again - I love these tables. (why was it always dull when we did it at school? I blame the teachers..)

Tophe says:
I wouldn't put all the blame on the teachers - keep in mind how they were taught to teach. It really wasn't until the 70's and later that they got a clue and realized it was better to make things fun and interesting than to just lecture all day.

moo says:
thanks for the reminder that I'm ancient tophe...
but yeah, they did all teach in the same way. The odd one who was funny or tried that bit harder was the one who got the results - you'd think they would have realised...

(one flew over the coocoo's nest!)

moo says:
sadly woozy, if that's a quote from the movie, then I don't / won't remember it because I'm useless with anything I've seen - even favourite movies (and cuckoo's nest is one).
However, if it's merely an observation, then yes, I did know.
