my friends and i decided this is the best method of travel since you get real real real experiences there is no tour group options, developing countries you get great currency conversion as well.

So, I have a cruise coming up this August that will take me to Cozumel, Belize, Costa Maya, and Nassau Bahamas.

Now, I've been to Cozumel once before, and didn't see the Mayan Ruins, so i know I am going to see those this time. I haven't been to the others yet, so I wondering what you guys think is the best things to do at these places. Which ones have the best beaches and the best snorkling spots.

Thanks

Ephesus is a wonderful ruined city from the 6th Century AD. It is a great place for photography because of the frequent blue skies, and the fact that you can crawl through the ruins. It's not the easiest place in the world to get to without a tour group. We rented a car and drove several hours from Gocek to Selcuk (Efes). I believe tours can be taken from Izmir.

Cairns in Australia is amazing. One of my favorite places in this entire world. It's got a kick back feeling of the Caribean, but the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. It also has some wicked cheap/good hostels in the area.

I guess I'm a little late on this one, but in case anyone scrolls through and is curious about Australia and New Zealand... I spent 9 months in NZ and 3 in Aus. Recommendations for NZ: Bay of Islands, Wellington (North Island), Heaphy Track, Abel Tasman Track, The Fjordlands!!, Wanaka (South Island) The west coast of the South Island (particularly around Punakaiki) has some of the most beautiful coast line I have ever seen. The whole country is fairly compact (about the same land mass as Cali), so it is pretty accessible. Cheap car rentals are easy to find, traffic is for the most part non-existent, and the roads are easy to navigate. Hitching is fairly common for travelers, but there is some risk involved. Definitely go in pairs or groups if this is your plan, and don't do it if the idea makes you uncomfortable. There are lots of great (cheap!) hostels in New Zealand... I would recommend getting either a BBH or YHA card while you are there. BBH is only good in NZ (YHA is international), but the BBH hostels tend to be smaller and have more personality. Also, skydiving in Taupo (North Island) is cheaper than anywhere else in NZ.

Australia: Melbourne is a very cool city, and you should make some time here. I spent about six weeks in Cairns, loved it here as well. The Daintree and Cape Tribulation just north of Cairns are beautiful...lush rainforests along beautiful beaches... can't beat it. There are a ton of boats to go diving off of in Cairns... I worked for six weeks on a small boat, so I got to hear a fair bit about the different companies. If they are still around, I would recommend going out with the Vagabond - they run 3-day trips off the reef and have (reportedly) some of the best dive sites. If you are truly a diving enthusiast, you may want to skip Cairns and go to Broome (west coast), as the reef has been far less damaged by tourist traffic. And, finally - Go to Byron Bay! Okay, I think that's all. Sorry for the ridiculously wordy ...
