the nashville show was so perfect! we were lucky enough to stand right next to the stage so we (we, meaning my husband who took all of the pictures) got some great shots! i want to say it's the best TMBG show i've been to, but i say that about every one of them.

Just an FYI to all - I'm going to see TMBG at the 9:30 club here in Washington D.C. on November 23rd. If anyone else is going I'd love to stop by & say hi while there.

I have so many favorites from the Johns...

But if I had to pick one, I think I might have to go with "Birdhouse In Your Soul". "Ana Ng" might be a close second.

::gasp:: Lucky!

edit: yay, I have it now! :D Seems more like Factory Showroom than John Henry, which isn't a bad thing at all. Great stuff as usual.

edit (again): Upon further listening, I'd say it pretty much has its own sound, just like any of their albums. Didn't have the impact that listening to Lincoln, Apollo 18, Flood, or John Henry had on me, but there are a bunch of gems scattered throughout the album. To reiterate, it's not the best, but it's still great stuff.

Am going to see TMBG tomorrow, May 8th, in Charlottesville VA. My friends procrastinated to order their tickets & thus its now sold out so I'll be going by myself. If anyone wants to say hi while I'm there: give me a shout at 540-263-0557.

Hey!
Small world. If I had checked this before I went, I would have said "you can hang out with me and my friend Stef!" As it was, you hung out with us anyway!

If you are a digg user, "digg" this.
http://digg.com/apple/They_Might_Be_Giants_new_album_The_Else_to_be_iTunes_exclusive

They Might be Giants have announced their new album, entitled "The Else" will be an iTunes exclusive (for a couple months, anyway). The album will hit stores on July 10th, but will be an iTunes exclusive starting May 15th.

According to TMBG's John Flansburgh, "The iTunes exclusive we are told will drop on May 15. Now, we are a small fish in that very big pond, and we're just reporting the promises that have been made to us right now, but that's what we've been told! The real physical album, which is a deluxe package including some amazing photographs by artist Marcel Dzama, will also include a full length bonus disc that compiles some new rarities as well as some hi-fi versions of some podcast favorites. All in all it's 13 songs that we are very proud of, and we suspect y'all will dig it too."

Who here listens to their podcast? (I better see everyone raising their hands) :P

Their latest podcast had their live rendition of the Steve Miller Band's "The Joker". They blew it out of the water, as to be expected.

They do a FANTASTIC job on covers - ever see them do Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" live?

Love the podcast; best one so far was Venue Songs - different than the one they put out to sell, and it looks like they no longer have it available to download.
