The sky is that blue, the trees are that orange... and it's not so bloody hot.

I like wearing jackets. And jeans. I'm slowly killing myself by refusing to dress for 35 degree weather.

The first thing I'll do when Autumn REALLY gets here is make a campfire in my backyard (firepit)......have an adult beverage......hang out with my dogs and whoever comes over to enjoy it......

One of the main things I miss about my long-ago home in Massachusetts (I moved to central Georgia 7 years ago) is actual, honest to goodness SEASONS. There was a defined Spring, and Summer, and Autumn, and Winter. Here in the bible belt we have Wet, Hot, Damn Hot, and Cold. You know I read in a study somewhere that people who grow up in regions with defined seasons are smarter and more able to tolerate unexpected life changes than people who grow up in seasonless climes. I wonder - does the IQ you gain starting your life with seasons deteriorate when you leave?

I miss REAL seasons too!...they are so distinct when they are happening!

Interesting about that study with the higher IQ being triggered by changing seasons. I say NO WAY do you lose it when you leave. Living without seasons can't make you dumber. Just less tolerant to freezing cold.

I Have great memories of Autumn from childhood in Idaho, beautiful leaves turning, the first cool weather coming in.......playing catch with my father in the backyard,...the anticipation of the coming Holidays.......

Alex says:

In May my heart was breaking --
Oh, wide the wound, and deep!
And bitter it beat at waking,
And sore it split in sleep.

And when it came November,
I sought my heart, and sighed,
"Poor thing, do you remember?"
"What heart was that?" it cried.

I can't wait for that first hint of woodsmoke in the air...and on my dogs fur when she comes in from running in the yard. That's when I know it's really Autumn.
