I found a way to add Jaiku to Virb without mixing it with your blog....http://www.widgetnest.net/get/rssscroller/ this site creates a code that Virb will let you add. Of course, I wish it didn't scroll, but its better then the alternatives so far. lol... enjoy!

An interesting article:

P.S. Jaiku's tagline is now "Your Conversation". Should the tagline of this group be changed?

The article was an interesting read, although I do have a problem with the points made concerning "Silent & Small-Group Sociality". Twitter has the ability to let users turn off notifications from all or some users at anytime. You also have the ability to more or less hide your identity on Twitter, by keeping your notifications funneled to a select group of followers by requiring your approval whenever someone wants to follow you.
I do agree though, that while Jaiku is the better of the two services...there is enough room for the two of them to coexist. I would hate to see Twitter vanish, if only because it was the first micro-blogging service I ever joined. I think Twitter will always have a fond place in the hearts of many during this "war", if only because Americans always favor the underdog.

@Chris
Have you tried Juhu? It looks awesome, and the integration with Adium sounds amazing. Just curious as to how anyone's experience with the app has been like. I'm looking to reinstall my Mac over the weekend and I'm trying to keep tabs on what apps I should install. Thanks!

I've been running it since v0.5.0 and I have nothing but love for Juhu. I highly recommend it.

Reinstalled my system over the weekend and I have Juhu up and running. OMG! Juhu : Twitterrific :: Jaiku : Twitter. It's better in every way. I noticed some weird glitchyness though, then it again it might just be my interpretation of the updates and the way they work with Growl. So for instance I get a new set of updates from Juhu via some Growl notifications. Then five minutes, or whenever, I'll get the same set of notifcations from Growl but nothing's changed. And yet that isn't always the case. By and large, whenever Juhu is updated and Growl puts up the notes, they're new. I'm thinking maybe the repeats aren't so much a glitch, but possibly people are making comments on those notes. And since I'm not subscribed to those people's accounts...I'm just getting the notice that my friend's Jaikus are being commented on? But that's just a guess. Maybe it in fact is a glitch and there is no rhyme or reason. Anyway, it doesn't have very often. Certainly no where near enough to make it annoying and unusable. I love the program. Has all the bells and whistles, works well and looks gorgeous. Very slick. Thanks for tipping us onto the program Chris! ;)

I've seen people with Twitter "badges" on their Virb profiles.
Anyone know if it's possible to do something similar with Jaiku?

Yes you can, by using one of their "Presence Badges" (go to settings). But you can only see the most recent post... plus, it uses java script :(
This is one of the (few) things that Twitter does better than Jaiku.

yeah, and (unless you found a way) I can't get virb to show it because its java. You can import jaiku as a blog, but i don't care for the way it looks on your site. The good side, is you can edit your blog to show as many entries as you like, so it can show like your last 5 jaikus- but i think it looks cluttered becuase of how it shows as a blog. Is there a way to stop virb from showing the blog excerpts? If you could get rid of that, i could live with the jaiku's importing as a blog and just set my blog to show more entries.

A less pixelated group logo, perhaps?

P.S. Thanks for creating this group, Izzy!

Thanks origino, looks much better. I don't understand why the group logo came out like that, it was the same size as the one you posted here but every time I uploaded the pic it was zoomed in and pixelated.

Sweet! a jaiku group! I have a few friends on Virb who also use jaiku- hopefully they will join. I wrote the tech support team at virb asking them to make jaiku a trusted source... hopefully they will! *fingers crossed* we shall see...

Glad to hear MOMO, I'm hoping it happens soon because I'm loving all the integration I get on jaiku already with RSS.

So yeah.. I'm pretty much declairing Jaiku "dead".
I love Google, but ever since they bought it out is has gone flat-line. No more devolpment, closed sign-up, lack of US support.
Sad, because I really did like it a lot better than Twitter. Unfortunatly that's pretty mych my only choice now and plus my favorite people are there to follow (Leo Laporte, Jason Calacanis, etc.)
