It definitely looks like it will be a kick ass game. The last I heard is that it's not being released until '08 now though...

Yea I heard something about that along with arcade titles being able to have a max of 250mb so they wanted to stuff the game with more content. Joystiq

Chris says:

Hey, if they want to take some extra time to add more content then that's fine with me.

Yeah, this looks like an awesome game. I can't wait till I am able to connect back to Xbox Live again.

Impluo says:

It looks like PGR 4 is going to have a lot of content like PGR 2 did back on the old Xbox :)

Enhanced Weather Simulation: One of the slickest new features in PGR is its weather. Bizarres using what it likes to call extreme weather for more than just making the sky gray. Water beads up on beautifully on all the gorgeous paintjobs, spray jets out from the tires, and in the in-car view, wipers move and windshields ice up.

Enhanced Raceway Environments: A TV-style intro sets up each event, with a commentator offering wisdom Choppers buzz overhead, camera crews and video vans are everywhere, and hordes of fans line the track. Theyll wear gear with your logo, wave your national flag, and react far more obviously to your performance.

Extended Car Selection: PGR4 will deliver a much broader set of vehicles, ranging from a vintage 63 Corvette Sting Ray and the 54 Maserati 250F to the sleek, ultra-modern Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

On the tracks: You wont want to miss out on your viewing time with PGR4s tracks, which tally up to 200-plus in 10 locations.
On Xbox Live initiatives: PGR4s cooking up a mysterious new matchmaking system (like Halo 2's).

On in-car view: Bizarre has two key improvements in the works.Youll now see drivers moving more- feeding the wheel as they zip through turns or pumping their fist after a win. Special effects will also crank up the tension in key moments: you'll get a shake effect at high speeds, and your vision will blur after spending some quality time with a a wall.

relatively new purchaser of a 360 (was waiting for ps3 but became disheartened with the whole thing) and need some help finding good games. curently own Gears of War, Call of Duty 3 and Crackdown which each have their merits but are starting to get a little over used.

can you guys give me an idea of say the top three games you each have in your collections? would be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

cheers.

My top four retail games (since one of my top three you have):
1) Crackdown
2) Viva Pinata
3) Dead Rising
4) Burnout Revenge

And if you can find them cheap or rent them, try out both Condemned and Tomb Raider Legend...

My top three live arcade games:
1) Geometry Wars (best 5 bucks ever spent on a game)
2) Heavy Weapon
3) Worms

Oblivion
Viva Pinata
PGR3 (I don't know if I'd actually recommend PGR3 though, I guess if you like racing games that are halfway between Arcade/Sim, then you might like it. If you like simulation racers then I'd wait around 1.5 months for Forza 2.)

Here's a short list of games (besides the obvious shooters) that I'd recommend to any new 360 owner...

1. Dead Rising
2. Oblivion
3. Lost Planet
4. Viva Pinata
5. Castlevania SOTN (Live Arcade)
6. Geometry Wars Evolved (Live Arcade)

2. Gears of War
3. Lost Planet

... and there is nothing wrong with a little HALO 2 - even though it's from the old 'box.

viva pinata and dead rising seem to be consistently popping up. might have to convince the accountant in investing in two new games. was considering dead rising even before the responses. surprised actually, seeing how it was an early release that it was still on so many lists.

cheers for the help.

^ Do you have an internet connection hooked up to your 360? If so, there is a demo for Dead Rising on the marketplace. If you live in the US, there is a demo for Viva Pinata on there too. That would at least give you an idea of what the game play is like before you buy it.

readyaimfire says:

dead rising is amazing. it's made by capcom the same company that made resident evil. but this is the exact opposite. RE is dark and scary and you run into zombies occasionally. but in DR everything is pretty and shiny and light and you hardly ever go anywhere without a zombie on yer screen.

tomb raider legends was fun. it's not a run and gun game like the ones you have mentioned before.

ps its not too late for you to get halo 2. there should be some new multiplayer maps out soon.

also i forgto mention. i played the demo of GRAW 2 and it's pretty amazing.

^ Pretty much all of my friends on Live thought the game was too childish to play and they laughed at me for being a master romancer. :P
A little while later, a few of them received a free copy of the game from a PGR3 tournament in California and they liked it though.

am looking for a new game.

to be honest haven't given viva pinata much thought prior to now as i figured it a little childish. seems i may have been wrong. what exactly is it? impression i have is of a colorful sims with pinatas. what makes this game as good as you seem to suggest? only seem to have games where the object is to shoot people (which is great fun, dont get me wrong) so would love a little variety in my gaming.

posted Mar 26

evilangela says:

It's a surprisingly deep game, for as cutesy and bright as it appears. There are a ton of secrets in the game, from figuring out how to evolve hidden pinata species, creating differently-colored variants of pinatas, to getting the trader and creating Wild Card pinatas. It also lets you determine your own pace - if you want to focus on gaining experience to open up more species of pinatas and plants, you can move on to the more complex stuff rather quickly. If you want to just have something to relax with and play around, you can take your time making your garden look good and make your pinatas happy.

The first part of the game has a lot of hand-holding, to the point that you might think it's all going to be simplistic, but once the game lets you loose and you start getting into it, you realize it's far from simple.

I was convinced that I wasn't going to enjoy the "kiddie" Viva Pinata so I just rented it. 3 weeks of gaming later I knew I was hooked. I ended up never returning it and just bought it from GameFly.
