Spore

Create your own creature: from scratch to space.

Fans of Will Wright and Maxis' new project, Spore.

Description:
You start out as a single celled organism, and as you grow you are able to alter your creature's appearance and abilities. As you evolve into larger and larger creatures, you move onto land (or possibly not). You continue to control your organism and use it's abilities to survive and reproduce, advancing your creature into small groups or tribes, proceeding on then to cities, and civilizations. After that, you are able to go into space, where it's almost a complete sandbox (literally). All the programming and animation is done procedurally, meaning very little file sizes and very realistic movements and organism personalities.

Phases of Gameplay:
Tidal Pool (Cellular) - Similar to PacMan
Creature - Similar to a Diablo (hunting and surviving) and The Sims (reproduction/social connections) hybrid
Tribal - Similar to RTS (Real-Time Strategy games) and The Sims (as mentioned above)
Civilization - Similar to SimCity (simplified) or conquest games (Civilization/Risk)
Space - Similar to SimEarth, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and more...

Decided to try to find a solid release date... and I stumbled upon one!

...and a Spore site actually.

The release date is March 3, 2008 (according to the Amazon.com Pre-Order, though it can always be pushed back)... so that's something to look forward to. :) Honestly I doubt it'll come out before Summer '08, but they'll have plenty of time to patch it... I just want to start!!

Because, like the game, we are merely in the tidal pool phase, and so have no communication ability yet. =D

...or something.
