As Opus said... we all owe this to former administrations. The really bad thing about neoliberalist governments is that once everything is privatized and the policies and laws are in place it is very difficult for other administrations to repair the damage. Although the real threat of this is not really the government... the real threat is that the common man/women (mainstream thought) is immersed, really drowning, in neoliberalist propaganda...
As to other countries buying the national debt... I doubt it. Most likely the international banking cartels will get their dirty hands on that so they can impose their agenda on the US taxpayer, again, since these are the same people running (in charge of) the US currency. And so, if the US currency is owned by these banks.. these banks own the currencies of countries that base their currency on the US dollar.
... nice little scheme huh?
this is really just a macro version of what happens when people max out their credit cards and take out a loan to pay them off... BUT KEEP USING THE CREDIT CARDS!!! a nice little vicious circle.

Nice one... definitely the "How-to-make-a-voluntary-wage-slave" primer...
You know there are some nations in this world who's culture and religion dictate that they are not allowed to borrow at a rate of interest.
That they should only seek to purchase within their means... I don't espouse how this philosophy has been executed, however
I definitely see the value in the common man or woman taking heed of this example. Of course when we are so blatantly inundated with messages to buy, buy, buy it becomes even more challenging to stem the spread of the circumstances that would make neo-liberalism seem an attractive option.

Hi All
I also tried three times to reply to you DJ Moet & if this looks like beat poetry it's because I'm giving the punctuation a miss just to see what happens. . . this could be useful : http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/FreeTrade/Neoliberalism.asp

Hi Yokto Diaries... this is a good start although its the "lighter" side of neoliberalism:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoliberalism
But if you want to go in deeper you might want to read this:http://www.amazon.com/Brief-History-Neoliberalism-David-Harvey/dp/0199283265
Its the history of neoliberalism written by a profesor from CUNY, its really good and pretty essy to understand.
To everyone.. apparently if you write a dieresis everything you write after that disappears.
So to DJ Moet... sorry I wrote two post in reply to what you said but got frustrated to see that the y had disappeared .. but never fear I'll reply in the near... future.

Thanks for the invite Opus... So let's start the chatting...
In a conversation I was having recently at a dinner party, the idea was brought to the table that the current US administartion,
is intentionally running up the deficit in order to create the circumstances by which other nations purchase so much of our debt,
(i.e. SE Asia bailing out Citigroup), that we are forced into accepting the globalization of the economy...
What are your thoughts???

Sorry, I'll try again, DJ Moet, it was the upping of the deficit (!) right ? Well it seems pretty likely. . , these "people" i.e. The filthy rich & their buddies, who have the political paraphernalia in place, are ruthless. Not so long ago the politics ran the economy. . . , ah, yes - I only read this yesterday - & history told us how this venture fared. Since the advent of hardcore neoliberalism,

Damn, I lost the text again. . . , thank you M. Thatcher & her cowboy friend, R. Reagan, things aren't so clear. The merchants & the politicians are all in it together, up to their necks &, all too often, over our heads. If not our dead bodies . . ., remember they have war in their toolbox & it frequently comes in handy. I hardly think a little upping of the deficit would matter much. What matters is MAKING A BUCK full stop & maintaining their obscene power. And that's it.
We know what to oppose to capitalism. It's called communism. . . & it has to be reinvented fast. It never really worked before because it was conceived in a materialist way, using the then current world view. We need to wipe out our cultural notions, deflate our egos, talk with the spirits. 5 dried grams of Stropharia cubensis will do the trick for most of us. The mushroom knows, & is keen to share it's knowledge. I'll be back shortly, please excuse me . . . . .

Ah spoken like a true shaman! The question of how to recreate and equalize the present is one that strikes fear into the very centers of this group who holds the majority in their palms... I agree the power to make money (i.e. Federal Reserve Bank) is truly the seeming absolute ruler of society as we know it... My contention is that in order to recreate the present, those that perceive themselves as having the advantage, must have some sort of perceptual shift and feel/see that the way the economy has been steered in the recent past is actually to their detriment... Even more so they must see that another way, one in which wealth is more evenly distributed, is to their advantage...
Unlocking the corridor that connects the heart and mind is the the key as you've implied above... It would be nice to be able to get all those people turned on, although that has it's own risk as well.

Insightful video and site.
Tangent-A little shocking to see the BNP on the left side of the fence, but, after visiting politicalcompass.com I see their reasons. It isn't left in a general sense but more heavily authoritarian and lefter social views of indiginous ideas.
Some of the test phrases on political compass will make you laugh out loud-try it out for a chuckle.
But to the matter in hand, other than absorbing information leading to cyclical political depression-what do we do?
Our political choices lay with the right, the lesser right, the rather right and the minor parties. Voting to block appears as the only stand. Consumer power collectively amounts, but what changes can we see/create?
I feel disempowered in resisting, but in a country where you have to apply to demonstrate (uk) it's hard not too.
Sorry to be a bummer, but I joined in spite not becaue of this.
