the classic question people ask me: you're a vegetarian, do you eat fish?
my answer: NO, no fish, no meat, no gelatin or other things you can only get by killing the animals...
and you?

This question drives me a little nuts.
And when i reply with no I consume no animal products at all I usually get the:
But my friend is a vegetarian and they eat fish.
I cant count the number of time I've said "I'm a vegan and no vegetarians do not eat fish.I'm afraid your friend is not in fact a vegetarian"

Ok, I know this conversation went on a week ago and I am new to this site.... but i would like some advice on this.... I am a Vegan and believe in animals rights including lil fishies, but I do eat Oysters. Anyone have advice or an opinion on this, or even educate me.... I know they don't have a nervous system, and they're not classified as fish, sooooooo do they fall under the can't eat category?

annihilation [floating upon little pink pills] says:
actually oysters do have a nervous system...
sometimes the easiest thing is go off the scientific classification of animals .. so anything falling underneath the animal kingom you're not going to eat. in this case an oyster is a mollusk which is a phylum underneath the animal kingdom. and therefore on the do not eat list....
haha perhaps that's sort of making it sound more complex though...
