Shakes

Isle of Wight, United Kingdom

Billboard

Whatever image the name Shakes brings to your mind, be it a body spastically jerking around uncontrollably or perhaps sweaty bodies forming a mob dancing and uncontrollably bumping into each other, there is one thing that is certain - Shakes makes you think of movement, and the English duo comprising of Matt & Darren Farrow certainly stay true to their name.

The two brothers from the Isle of Wight make dance music that is a blend of punk-funk and jacking electro, citing Adam & The Ants, DFA, Ivan Smagghe of Black Strobe and Optimo as key influences. Their music has been heralded by the likes of current indie-electronica kings Erol Alkan and Ewan Pearson and has been described by NME as "the sweetest indie dance crossover since James Murphy dribbled ketamine on his oversized American Apparel t."

With remixes for Datarock and GoodBooks as well as a very well-received remix of Kasabian's "Shoot The Runner" all gaining them notoriety in 2006, Shakes are establishing themselves as much sought-after producers for their ability to transform already good songs into phenomenal dance floor anthems that kick your ass and then make you move it.

Shakes will be releasing their Sister Self Doubt EP later this year through new indie label IAMSOUND Records. The EP has five banging tracks including an alternative version of their hit single "Sister Self Doubt."
