Garan Fitzgerald

Classical / Indie / Blues

Seoul, South Korea

Who is he?

Garan Fitzgerald is a bassist with a heavy dose of classical training stirred with a strong desire to rock. Having studied with Homer Mensch at Juilliard and Bruce Bransby at Indiana University, he finds himself itching to play anything put in front of him. His performance experience is in genres reaching from classical to modern, rock to jazz, techno to funk, and he is possessed of a personality which drives him to keep making connections, assuring that he plays in a rather eclectic collection of groups. Currently, he is in South Korea performing and recording with Saint John the Gambler, a group of rising stars in the indie rock scene of Seoul, a tango quartet formed by accordion player Sasha Sheykin, and Bamboo Wife, a jazz/funk collective he and guitarist Nate Rafferty have slowly pieced together over the last few months. Garan is also pursuing positions with Seoul orchestras, recording studios, and universities.

You graduated from Julliard and you're leaving positive comments on my site...pearls to swine, my friend. You would be appalled and disgusted were you to watch me "work." But, thanks. I appreciate it. Now...pull my finger.

Hey, thanks! I like your sound too. As well as the band. i have heard of you all, but haven't seen a show yet. I hope to catch the show at Ta. That'd be great to play together sometime. We're working on our next album at the moment, but we'll be playing live again soon I'm sure. Well, hope to see you at your show.

Thanks so much for the comment! You are very correct in your assumption of my vocal style being more or less a mistaken note as opposed to an intentional variation. It is what i've become most focused on improving so if you have any ideas, tricks, or exorcises for me to get a richer tone out of my voice id' be much appreciated. Btw you sound great keep up the good work!
