About

Flower Of Cables is the music of composer & digital media director Pär Almqvist. Nu-jazz, electronica, house, broken beats, ambient dub, break beats, drum & bass, dubstep and whatever else floats our boat.

Music

I've been playing and making music since I was 5 years old. As enjoyment, and as a way to deal with the things that happen in this freeflowing, fantastic, fleeing, floating life.

Distribution

Flower Of Cables is solidly opposed to DRM (Digital Rights Management), and futile attempts by the likes of RIAA to stop P2P filesharing.

Of course, I still claim copyright over the music I've composed. But that doesn't mean you should have to buy it to listen to it, to enjoy it for personal use. That choice is up to you.

I know that if you like the music, you'll either buy some tracks from iTunes Music Store, get the album from Amazon or another online store, pay a visit to your local record dealer, use the PayPal donate button on flowerofcables.com, or come to a live gig. And if you don't, that's ok too -- just promise to give something back to the creative community. Support your local artists. Whatever floats your boat.

Philosophy

Soon, a selection of songs will be equipped with links to .zip archives, containing N number of individual tracks that comprises the song. You download, then rework, remix, mash up, destroy. Whatever's the float of the day. When you've composed something out of this information, get in touch and we'll have a listen together. If it's awesome, we'll release it together. Or mash it up again, together. Or just kick back and feel groove. Whatever feels right.

Look at it as open source music. Or a distributed experiment in collaborative composition. Or something else vague and non-descriptive you want to call it. Let's shut up and make some music!
