About djzm
I am a trance/progressive-house/breaks dj in the Northern Viriginia/DC area. Still working on that big break-through into playing out regularly at clubs and parties, but for the time being I am constantly mixing, working to better myself and my sound to provide you with plenty of mixes to listen to and enjoy.
A little more about me, constantly listening to some form of music has been something I've been living by for most of my life. When I was a kid and didn't know much about real music, I would record video game tunes with a cheap toy recorder and take it wherever I went, playing it loud and looping it over endlessly. While still always keeping those traits and tastes from my earlier youth, I developed an endless curiosity for what I liked and looked for in music. I eventually started purchasing new tunes weekly at the least, and the more I ate up, the more my tastes kept expanding and evolving rather than becoming stagnant.
With that experience, one of my outlooks on music is that it is about the "feeling the certain feeling" and living by what "gets you the most" at that moment, and I hope my mixes succeed on taking you through these various different musical vibes I've come to love and appreciate, from chilled-out and relaxed, to driving, pumping, aggressive, even angry and depressing, to trippy, funky, groovy, rockin', uplifting and euphoric.
Keep moving down for a full tracklist of each mix I have uploaded into the player! Each mix can be downloaded as well. If you would like a hard tracked-copy on a CDR, send me a message and I will gladly mail one to you.

4split_s3cond - Breaks Mini Mix - Approx. 28min - July 21, 2008:
During the last hours of work today I had the sudden urge and motivation to put together this mix. Not a full-length, but I feel it's still a nice, short, hard hit. I had thrown together maybe three of these tracks the other day--They sounded interesting together so I found some other tracks to go with them for another mini-mix. One other thing that's new about this mix in particular is that I experimented a lot with mixing during the breakdowns--Try to catch when you can hear them. It's not a mixing technique I've tried a lot in a recording (Because it typically ends in butchering the mix!).. Hope you enjoy!

Mixed Up - Approx. 63min - May 6, 2008:
This is a mix that doesn't stick to a particular dance genre, and even implements some pop-dance that you probably wouldn't find me throwing down in a normal mix. Created live for a friend that looks for that kind of stuff--and despite the alcohol--I feel it turned out pretty well.. so here it is now! A constant, back-and-forth of pop dance, prog, house, trance, and in the last bit, breaks:

The Platipus Mix - Approx. 76min - May 1, 2008:

14.(70:58) Jan Johnston - Calling Your Name (Thrillseekers Dub)
April Trance - Approx. 69min - April 22, 2008:
A nice smooth ride overall. I believe there's more laid-back trance in here than in anything you'll find below, while still being light and dark at various times.. A better balance, I feel:

7. (45:27) - Joost Van Der Vleuten - Broken Dreams
8. (51:14) - Tom Cloud - Million Miles Away (Original Mix)
9. (57:40) - Paul Van Dyk - Connected (Marco V Mix)
10.(64:03) - Marco V - Possible, But Unlikely
Practice Trance Mix - Approx. 63min - February, 2008:
This is a condensed (cut) mini-mix version of a longer mix I recently made. Banging, driving beats, into sheer trance goodness.
Two Sides - Approx. 63min - February, 2008:

Mini Mix '07 - Approx. 45min - August, 2007:
This was one of my first practice mixes that actually came out pretty well. I decided to release it online as my first mix. It's a good example of where I would like to go with my mixes in general, and has a lot of the rock and guitar elements I like. I've received some really good feedback on it, so enjoy! May even do a re-recorded full-length down the road..
1. (00:00) - Bedrock - Heaven Scent (Greg Downey Remix)
2. (07:26) - Junkie XL - Today (12" Original Cut)
3. (15:46) - Sunlounger - White Sand (DJ Shah Remix)

Mean Beats (Incomplete track and title) - Production Track - Approx. 12 min - June 12th, 2008:
This is my latest effort, and actually my third shot at a production track. As my track below, this one was also done in Nitroscopic Studios and once again in the amateur Mac production program, Garage Band. I feel this is a better effort at a club-style track than the one below--It's very dj-friendly and is more loopy in general. You can either call it techno or progressive house, I guess it depends on how you see things. Things that need to be changed/added: 128 beat phrases all need to be adapted to 64-beat phrases, as the track is too long; Many more instruments and layers need to be added for depth and a more interesting vibe; More stereo fx need to be put into effect for the same reasons as above (Panning and volume fade-in/fade-out primarily); and lastly, add a couple of vocal hooks as well as finalize a fitting title name;
I would love some feedback on this one guys.. So comment away! =)
Emotional Techno - Production Track - Approx. 10min - March 26th, 2008:
While I try to advertise myself as a DJ, I've been wanting to get into production for a long time now. Been sort of lazy on that front, I guess you can say.. But at a friend's place just recently (recovering from a massive hangover, I have to add), I decided to boot up his old version of Garage Band (which also resides on an old Mac Mini).. After several hours, this track was ready! I'm not going to say it's fantastic or anything, and due to the lack of time there are a lot of elements left out.. but I feel it's a pretty good first-time effort. Fairly sad-themed as well, doesn't really stick entirely into one single genre.. And the main breakdown halfway through reminds me of the good old Sega Genesis/Megadrive days! Anyways.. download, or stream it, and let me know what you think!

Thanks, i like your music. I see you live in Fairfax, VA. I grew up in VA mostly around Stafford and Richmand. Just moved away from their a bout two years ago. I think fairfax was pretty close to stafford.
