Assorted Reviews, Many Thanks, and News on New Material and Life!
Disasterpeace (Rich Vreeland) is an American musician and composer originally from the Staten Island section of New York City. He draws heavily from the influences of his favorite musicians and composers, the audio aesthetic of retro video game soundchips, and his music studies to create instrumental music that varies in scope, structure, tonality, meter, timbre and theme. His music is often conceived while playing guitar and piano, humming melodies and clacking rhythms on the ends of his teeth. He currently attends the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he plans to study Music Production and Engineering
DESTRUCTOID
"Somewhere between electronica and great 8-bit soundtracks lies Disasterpeace, an experimental arrangement band possesed by the haunting sounds of gameboy sound cards and everything good that came out of Kurzweil in the 80's."
The Justice
Brandeis University
"Berklee student Rich Vreeland, the first to take the stage that night, played 45 minutes of electronica under the moniker Disasterpeace. He played a heavy, effects-laden electric guitar accompanied by other electric sounds courtesy of his Macbook. His ability to keep time and never lose track of the bizarre time signature of his songs was impressive, especially since it was his debut performance. The crowd seemed duly impressed with his guitar-playing skills, but the effects-drenched pieces made it unclear what and how much he was actually playing."
Infinite Game Music
"I'm not just listening to music, I'm being taken on some kind of fantastic adventure courtesy of Disasterpeace. I think his approach to chiptune composition is refreshing and unique." - TrueStar
Gamewave Podcast
"Some people might not be able to take that (Level - Eight) kind of assault of the ears. it might break people down to tears. it might kill people." - Joe Allen and Mike Cook
Stemage / Metroid Metal
"NOTHING. NOTHING sounds like this."
Great, great stuff! Thanks for adding and making this cool music. Greetings from Digital Tools.

Life should be more 8-bit and pixelated... Gorgeous melodies and a killer name. Impressive work, keep it up. Thanks for the addition.

my friend please do not get me wrong. I love music more than I can say. I specialize in the drums and used to practice 4 hours a day, every day. If I could play in my apartment, I would probably spend a lot less time playing video games, if you get me :)

It's working now, not sure why. Thanks for the offer, but I'll wait till you're finished with the next cd album, if it'll be available for ordering (the mp3's were fine for now). Will it be called Rise of the Obsidian Interstellar like I think you mentioned on the 8bc?
