DEAD MENS DREAMS debut album "The Dead are Dreaming" is mastered! The Dead are pleased to communicate that the album is complete. Thirteen tracks that will bring new life...... to death. The living can expect "The Dead are Dreaming" in stores summer 2007. For those of you among the living who cannot bear this wait, we have 2 tracks here on our myspace page to listen to.

"So you wanna start a side project?" These are the words 5 Billion Dead vocalist Strain said to long time friend and Response Negative drummer Jim McCourt. Strain didn't have to ask twice, the two began working on a basic concept for Dead Mens Dreams and set out looking for some equally dedicated players. After a few months of auditioning guitarists and bass players, it finally came down to friends. Claude "zilla" Fernandez (Stillkept) came in and nailed it. His ultra heavy sound and groove-laden riffs were exactly what Strain and Jim were looking for.
As the 3 began crafting songs, Matt Wagner (5 Billion Dead, Equinox) was tapped to fill in on bass until a permanent player was found. Fall of 2006 saw DMD writing what was to become their debut album. DMD entered Audio Daze studios in Boynton Beach FL to demo a couple of tracks. Those tracks were "The Dead are Dreaming", and "Machines Will Take Our Souls". These 2 tracks were as eerie as they were heavy. It came as no surprise that everyone that heard them asked for more. James McComas owner of Ruins Of Old Management was one of those people. James met with the band in person and immediately added the band to his management roster.
Seeing the potential in Dead Mens Dreams, Strain left 5 Billion Dead to fully concentrate on his new band. While things were beginning to take off for DMD, they still needed a permanent bass player. That search ended with Perry Stern (Lo). Perry's sick mix of Cliff Burton, Les Claypool, and Steve Harris was the last piece of the puzzle that would solidify the sound of Dead Mens Dreams.
In January 2007 DMD entered Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg FL to record their debut album "The Dead are Dreaming". Behind the mixing desk was producer Brian Elliot (Cellador, The Absence, Soilent Green). In a very short period of time DMD constructed a sound very unique. A heart pounding, earthshaking, rhythm section under monster riffs, combined with haunting vocal melodies, Dead Mens Dreams is about to be unleashed.
