Bio
Creative, Energetic, Humorous, Compelling, Controversial, Passionate, and Humble. These are all words that one would use to describe Dave Elwert and his music. With musical influences from Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Bruce Hornsby to that of Coldplay, U2, and John Mayer, Dave has managed to create a sound that is not only defined by unforgettable melodies, but also catchy instrumental hooks. Playing primarily for the college demographic, his music has been said to come as a breath of fresh air to a music scene saturated with negativity and image.
Dave thrives on writing about various aspects of life. He uses his personal experiences and convictions as the basis of most of his writing; however you might also find him writing a song about something a friend or family member is going through. He says that when he needs something to write about, all he has to do is take a look around. Give him a thought and he'll give you a chorus. Give him a poem and he'll give you a melody. Give him a story and he'll give you a song. Music is simply part of who he is.
Dave's debut album as a solo artist focuses on a variety of thoughts and events that he encountered over the past couple of years. It is a story of ups and downs, encouragement and uncertainty, empowerment and doubt; a never-ending battle and one that everyone fights. So like every great battle is given a name, Dave decided to name this one "The Battle of Direction".
