Oh what broken lives we lead.
...what tangled webs we weave.

Davey Wilson says:
Why don't you just get a NIkon D3? It's a really incredible full frame camera -- much superior to Canon 5D. I know what it's like to shoot with something different -- I shoot with the Sony Alpha DSLR system (formerly Minolta), and being the newer/cutting edge system on the market, I have even less options for rental gear, but honestly, that hasn't held me up yet. In fact, it's actually gotten me jobs because of the unique look of the Alpha system's newly developed range of Carl Zeiss glass and G-series pro glass inherited from Minolta. Nikon isn't that much smaller than Canon in terms of market share right now. Surely there are enough camera companies you can rent lenses/accessories from, no? I think you will hate the Canon ergonomics and I'm not sure if you'll like their lenses either.
