Yackety yack...

Largely sound of mind; possibly too obsessed with music.

A strange love of everything which has electricity running through it, particularly if said object has the ability to make an audible note, which could be turned into music. In fact, if it makes nice noises I don't even care about the electricity.

The human spoken voice is a massively underused medium in music (in my humble opinion) and the work of Kenji Siratori is a massive influence on my own style (when I actually have the time to make my own music).

I work in the commercial 3d graphics arena, working with companies creating goods out of advanced composite materials, this means I get the opportunity to work with everyone from Formula 1 teams through to Aerospace companies. I largely enjoy it, at any rate.

Meanwhile, I spend far too little time, in my spare time, doing 3d graphics work for pleasure and tinkering with my music set up. This consists currently of a music workstation running a combination of Ableton Live 6, Sony Soundforge 8.0, Cakewalk (although consistently less and less), Reason 3.0 although I struggle to come to terms with it's interface, and a bunch of other gubbins.

Hardware consists of a Korg Electribe MX, Edirol UA25, Shure Microphone, Midair25 MIDI control surface, a Korg Toneworks effects rack, Gould Electric guitar, Ibanez Ergodyne bass guitar and a massive library of samples.

I am far too embarrassed to ever let anyone hear anything that I have written, despite now having a fairly extensive catalogue of work, most of which I would classify as being 'reasonable' and at times even 'good'.

I find the idolization of people who make music extremely amusing. Particularly when all they do is flick a switch and start pissing about with 5 keys and an arpeggiator.

Despite my love of the genre, it is rare for me to find a piece of purely electronic music which inspires much feeling in me, sure it's good to listen to in a banging club with the bass making your eyeballs shake, but otherwise it's largely lacking in any kind of feeling and 99% of the time you could be listening to anybody.

There are of course exceptions to the rule and I still have great respect for peoples attention to their art, whether that be a good piece of arrangement, or just a quality sample used to good effect.

People like Venetians Snares for me at least make unmistakable work, along with the awesome Aphex Twin. For these people I have the utmost respect for their skill in the electronic music field.

Other than music and art, I spend a good deal of my time wishing I had more inclination, time and money to do my other hobbies - expensive hobbies involving driving cars at high speed around twisty German race tracks and falling down mountains on a plank (snowboarding).
