Documentary on the world's largest record collection and the man who owns it (via Shilo's wonderful blog We Make It Good)
THE END Titles Aug 8
...and other film typography, a really wonderful flickr set by fliegender. Speaking of titles, Digital Kitchen was nominated this year for an emmy for opening title design on The Company. This was an all out effort of the Seattle and Chicago studios and I think they look really beautiful, one of my favorite title sequences DK has produced (so far).
Meridian Aug 4
FINALLY! finished Meridian, the short film I've been working on with Rod Lamborn and many many others. The music is a great track by Tycho. I put up a separate Virb site for the film here.
Meridian Production Stills May 13
I'm making a short film right now with photographer Rod Lamborn titled Meridian. Here are some production stills we took while shooting at the Rivington Hotel on the Lower East Side, NYC.
Light Lighter May 5
A warning on the reality and fantasy of technology, eloquently told by Mr. Hardstaff for Toshiba.
Color Retrospective Mar 10
New exhibition on color at the MoMA. As usual the curation is excellent, but this exhibit has a lovely website too.
Windows Live Process Film Jan 19
This piece, a supplement to the Windows Live (Event) film, features yours truly and describes the construction and process behind designing content projected on a 60' sphere.
Synthetic Babies Jan 17
The Newborn Nest is a gallery featuring the doll making of Lori Nicolls. Lori's dolls are unique in that they are sculpted out of silicone, Cernit, SuperSculpey and Premo clay. These disturbing dolls are incredibly real looking, certainly at a fine art or VFX level of physical modeling. My hunch is, however, that these creations were made for the doll collector market more akin to Ebay than the Whitney.
THE 2007 YEAR IN MUSIC Jan 7
My top ten album picks for 2007 in reverse order to build suspense..
Windows Live / Operation Smile Dec 19
I designed/directed this project for Microsoft with production company Digital Kitchen, interactive group Firstborn and ad agency Wexley School for Girls. LOTS of people helped make this an awesome project. The live generative content was built with Processing and was then projected in three dimensions onto an inflated 60' sphere.
