A little autobiography

Trained as a poet at Naropa University's Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, a musician at the infamous Berklee school in Boston, and self-taught in visual communication, illustration and design - my creative life now spans two decades.

From commercial and non-commercial projects as a designer and art director, publicist and consultant to administrative and conceptual execution as co-founder of Prazska Skola Poetiky (Prague School of Poetics) and creative influence for projects, festivals, readings, performances and events from Chicago to Bratislava. Representative of TACHELES Artist Congress (Berlin, GER) and longstanding member of the online design community YAY HOORAY, and previous to that DREAMLESS.ORG, as well as professional affiliations with AIGA and PEN.

As a writer, editor, poet, publisher, I have published over 30 chapbooks, over a dozen titles of zines and broadsides - alone and collaborative projects (grisgris and involute press). But really, I prefer the stage.

Notable readings and performances include NYU Beat Conference, Vox Festival, Lollapalooza, Nuyorican Cafe, St. Mark's Poetry Project, Roxy/Gallerie NOD (Prague, CZ), and extensively toured venues in the US and Europe since 1993. As a performance poet and spoken-word performer, I have opened for the bands Atari Teenage Riot, Thrust (NYC), Bikini Kill, and AYIN. I have been featured in the Beat documentary The Source, and on BBC Prime.

I have worked on the production side of filmmaking, while working for Stillking Films as a visual designer and art director. As well, I have done some acting, as a undergrad at Naropa, and randomly get asked to get on stage or in front of a camera. Film credits include a Fremen for the Sci-Fi Channel's mini-series DUNE, The Messanger (Luc Besson), stand-in for "Jean de Metz", Joan of Arc for CBS/CBC, and a strange commercial with "Mini-Me" himself, Verne Troyer - directed by Tim Burton! Other credits include a Gertrude Stein play, directed by Meredith Monk and a few other experimental excursions.

Recently, I am delving more into photography, videography, illustration and concept design. Writing, of course. Collage-based music and videography, when I have a chance. Motion-graphics and film. Trying to be an example to my two children, and making a living doing The Real Work.
