Ari Hest started his career while still an undergraduate student at NYU and spent his early years building his fan base by touring colleges and clubs across the country. In 2004, having released 3 independent records and sold 20,000 cds on his own, Ari signed with Columbia Records and released Someone To Tell to great critical and fan acclaim.
One Way Magazine may have said it best when it wrote, "his soulful baritone voice and soaring falsetto beautifully weave between infectious rhythms and hook-laden music."
Ari recently finished recording a new album with Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Ron Sexsmith, Bonnie Raitt), which will be released on Columbia Records on May 1, 2007. While fans awaited this record, Ari released an EP in stores and at digital outlets such as iTunes on October 31st called The Green Room Sessions, which was recorded and performed by Ari on his laptop using Apple's GarageBand software.
Gagosian Liga says:
"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov) Thank you for your friendship! Musical greetings from Munich/Germany! Feel free to download my music!
