Guitarist with about 8 years or so of playing experience, something I picked up in college. Although I've played with various people now and again, I never have been part of an actual band. Usual style I go for is some kind of metal/punk/post-hardcore sound, although I also try to mix some Tom Petty or Kurt Cobain type of melodies in there as well. As far as my playing style, I'm not extremely proficient at a lot of fancier chord progressions, I'm more punk in that area. I do have a tendency to like to play around with time signatures some.

Some various bands I've been listening to recently and/or influences: Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Ministry, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, REM, Superchunk, (older) Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan, Sugar, Polvo, Therapy?, Yea Yea Yeas, Fugazi, Refused, Quicksand, Converge, Low, Tom Petty, Replacements/Paul Westerberg, Wilco, Burial, TV on the Radio, Liars, At the Drive-In, Lightning Bolt, Afghan Whigs, A Place to Bury Strangers, "Sub-Pop 200" ('88 compilation album of then-current Sub-Pop artists, originally released on vinyl (of course), later re-released on CD). And I probably have been remiss for not mentioning this one before....Symphonic Chronicles (aka Billy Christiansen). If you ain't heard him, you ought to check it out....

Some who are reading this have heard me yak about doing the band thing, and yes it's been a while now, but things are (slowly) progressing. It's been decided right now the band is probably going to be named "Wire Resonance." Still trying to find a consistant line-up though. As far as songs, right now I have written about five songs for the band, however it ends up, with another three or so that I have developed the riffs, lyric ideas, etc. for, they just need to be more properly organized in some finalized state. If anybody is interested, I do have three basic guitar/vocal demos of songs I've written for the band (although hopefully someone else will be singing when I get the band together), up on my myspace page (link below). Probably a few of the first songs I wrote about a year and a half ago, when I decided to really focus on writing consistantly. Just got tired of them sitting around in my computer, doing a good job of collecting dust. Anyway, if you want to listen and maybe give some feedback, there they are.

The Damage/Damage-Control Project: RPM Challenge (Or A Study In Insanity)

Have posted the songs from the latest "Damage/Damage-Control" album, II, done for the RPM album in a month challenge in the player.. Went a different route than my "usual" style, as I did on the first album as well. These ended up being more acoustic and/or closer to traditional type of rock (still tried to make it my own sound though), at least partially because it didn't look like there were going to be too many people around my geographic area who were going to be able to provide more instruments/playing, all I have is a couple of guitars. Tried to do some somewhat experimental stuff as well (as much as I could with two guitars and my voice, and a month to do it in). The entire Damage/Damage-Control albums from both this year and last year are up there and available for download. At the moment, there are still some revisions that are going to be done on this year's album. Two of the songs still need drums and bass, "Always On" and "Chasing Ghosts," although I've got a couple of people right now that are working on that. I might redo a vocal track or two (notably "Chasing Ghosts," most likely), as well as do a couple of other "tweaks" (that shouldn't affect the basic sounds of the songs). So hopefully my "completely done" version will be done pretty soon.
